The Max Trailering Package, offered with both V8 engines, offers class-leading trailering capacity of up to 12,000 pounds maximum conventional towing(4) with the available EcoTec3 6.2L V8. New 7- and 4-pin trailer connectors are included in this and every trailering package. When it comes to hooking up, the available Rear-Vision Camera System with dynamic grid lines makes it easier to back up to a trailer. On the road, Trailer Sway Control works with StabiliTrak to automatically apply the brakes to both the truck and trailer (if properly equipped) when the rocking of a swaying trailer is detected. Auto Grade Braking automatically engages the transmission?s Grade Braking shift pattern to maintain your desired speed. Tow/Haul mode always keeps the transmission in the right gear.
Used on all Silverado 1500 models, this suspension is precisely tuned for improved handling. The front shock module has been enhanced to increase road isolation in response to even smaller vibration inputs. The new shear-style mounts at the front of the cab dampen side-to-side vibrations, while the new hydraulic mounts at the rear of the cab dampen vertical vibrations. The overall effect is a smoother and more comfortable ride.
The rear axle size has been increased to handle the increased torque. The 6.2L V8 engine, features a 9.5-inch ring gear in the rear axle, and the V6 models feature an 8.6-inch ring gear. A 9.76-inch ring gear in the rear axle is included with the optional Max Trailering Package, available to order fall 2013.
